Grenada County Law Enforcement Training Academy

 Class Applications will be accepted starting Oct 1, 2014 

The Grenada County Sheriffs Office conducts a Part Time/Reserve Officer training Academy starting in Jan of every year. This class encompasses 220 hours of training and lasting until May. The class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday night from 1800 to 2200. There is some training scheduled for Saturdays, and a couple of classes will be a full week long due to state standards. The class covers many topics as mandated by the MS Department of Standards and Training. The main topics that are covered, among others, will be PPCT, Firearms training and qualifications, OC spray qualifications as well as patrol car operation and driving technics. 

Applications are available by following the hyperlinks below, and must be turned in no later than December 5, 2014 to the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department. All potential students must pass a pre-PT test and academic test scheduled for December 13, 2014 in order to attend the academy.

Each agency sponsoring a student must provide the student with a vehicle for the defensive Driving Training class. The Cost of the 5 month class will be $600.00, this cost will cover all ammunition required to complete the Firearms training.  Cost is $500.00 if the student will provide their own ammunition.

Information needed to register for class:

* This paper work must be submitted to the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office by December 5, 2014*

1) Letterhead from sponsoring Department (PD or SO) recommending student, all self-sponsored students need not have a sponsor letter.

2) GED, High School or College Diploma

3) Application package, they can be obtained by clicking on the following hyperlinks: Both application must be filled out completely. Doctor must sign off that you are able to participate in the physical activity program prior to taking the PT in-test.
